Summary:
North Queensland and The Great Barrier Reef Region is the only place on earth where the rainforest meets the reef. Most people venture into this region to indulge in a break from work or try a new adventure, a magical and unforgettable experience you'll cherish for a life time. Well what if you could create that environment and experience with your team?
On Friday 9th October 2009 we ran our first program in the magical and unforgettable land of North Queensland. The team of 12 from Raine & Horne met with myself on a pictures morning at Sunferries, were the program started. As the ferry powered away it wasn't long after my initial brief that teams were grabbing the bull by the horns by immediately snapping photos and discussing their strategy for the rest of the day.
This company is continually developing a rock solid culture and positive environment for their staff to be a part of. It's not very often you see such a relaxed group with each other, willing to share and interact at the highest levels.
Magnetic Island was the destination, a tropical oasis off the coast of Queensland just a 20 minute ferry trip from Townsville. Oh what a place, positioned under a blue sheet of canvas, you know what they say “beautiful one day...perfect the next”! After the ferry had docked teams took off to complete as many Metro Challenges and Photo Challenges as possible before their next facilitated activity in Arcadia Bay.
Transport for the day was whatever teams could get their hands on, they arrived at the first location; one on a bus, one in a taxi and one in their very own four seater moke (see picture). I had a little chuckle watching Clint wedge himself out of the moke, things were really starting to heat up.
After nonstop fun and interaction we finished the day at a local watering hole looking over the water with an ice cold beverage in hand, the teams had loved every minute! After the time deductions and time bonuses had been amalgamated the winning team was announced and celebrated with the rest of their group well into the afternoon.
Off the top of my head I couldn't identify a better environment to build your team, have fun, bond, interact and develop a communication channel for your team that will have such a long lasting effect.
Thank you Raine and Horne Townsville Central for opening my eyes to Magnetic Island, can't wait for next year!
