LAUGHING YOURSELF TO SUCCESS
Think back to last time you had that belly laugh that stops you breathing or is so funny it makes your cheeks hurt... how good does that make you feel? Well funnily enough (pardon the pun) it is this feeling and mindset that will make you more successful than you ever have been. It's truly amazing what laughing can do for the body that feel good feeling is like a natural body panadol. Helene Grover's (Laughter Strategies, 2010) really hits the nail on the head when she says "Laughter is to the body like a grease & oil change is to a car - If we don't grease our internals with laughter and oil our souls with fun attitudes, we seize up & conk out" So you might ask yourself how is laughing going to make me successful, well as Nigel Collins - creative guru explains in one of his key note speeches, 'people are more creative when they are in the right frame of mind'. When people are laughing they think more clearly, have an increased intellectual performance and information retention. Laughing is pretty much your one stop shop to perfect mind body and soul, the effects are life changing: - Increase your spirit quotient - Put a devilish twinkle in your eye - Replenish your creative juices - "pop" yourself out of emotional ruts - Develop abdominal muscles of steel - Rebalance the chemistry of your stress and tension - Creates perspective and reminds yourself of the bigger picture - Experience a deep connection with other human beings You'll soon be wondering why you wasted all those years being so serious, the research and testing has been completed and it just doesn't make sense to be so serious. It takes 37 muscles to frown and 22 muscles to smile, so let's not waste energy being unhappy. Build a team that laughs together, plays together and is creative together and you will have a winning team no matter what you are trying to achieve. As health and well being Dr Michael Pritchard quote's 'We don't stop laughing because we grow old; We grow old because we stop laughing'! There are a number of different activity approaches you can take to move into this frame of mind, so stop frowning and start laughing! Oliver Sheer |
