The idyllic Berida Manor was the setting for BeChallenged's first trip to Bowral. Directions Australia wanted to start their two day ‘One Team' conference with some objective team building, which would allow them to emphasise their core themes and provide a spring board for the following sessions. With team names, objectives and risk strategies discussed and agreed on, the group assembled on the front lawns, BeChallenged dollars in hand eager to start earning money.
Prior to each activity Andy and Oliver briefed an individual member from each team, who in turn took responsibility for briefing their remaining team members and was accountable for that particular activity. Briefing in such a manner and passing responsibility directly to individual team members, allowed us to really identify Directions Australia's objectives and observe how individuals and the teams interacted, communicated and progressed through the various activities. These techniques more specifically allowed us to identifiy which character types certain individuals possessed and which team members were willing to be accountable during the activities.
As the day draw to a close and with the temperature dropping in sunny Bowral, we re-grouped inside for what proved to be a highly constructive debrief session, as each team debated and then shared their outcomes on how they performed and the learning's they had experienced throughout the afternoon. Andy and Oliver thoroughly enjoyed working with Directions Australia; it was an exceptional experience to work with such a passionate and enthused group of trainers who embraced every challenge placed upon them.
