Summary:
Oporto contacted us in late April, they were interested in the Amazing Race and wanted the event to improve team bonding and communication after a recent management restructuring process. Specifically they wanted each team to formulate a discussion on team performances during the race and for us to lead a debriefing session and incorporate their objectives and those discussed by the teams during the day.
On 30/07/08 Andy, Kingsley and Dave started the Amazing Race at the Oporto corporate office in St Leonards, and moved onto Lavender Bay, Darling Harbour and Milsons Point, with teams attempting a variety of mental and physical challenges, travelling on foot, car, rail and water before finishing at the Cabana Bar St Leonards. With the lead changing continually throughout, the race was wide open and it was the team from Ecuador that arrived first on the mat, to be crowned the Oporto Amazing Race Champions.
During a 5 minute Pitt Stop at Bradfield Park, Kingsley and Andy took a few moments with each team to discuss how they had performed so far, identifying their strengths and weakness and how these could be improved within the remaining elements of the race. The final debrief gave teams the opportunity to express in an open forum their strengths, areas that could be improved and lessons to be taken back to the work place. Oporto where a highly committed, competitive and fun group to work with, it was a pleasure helping them to achieved their objectives.
