Summary
LJM Group contacted us on the back of a referral from a client who had attended the Spring Soiree event we held at Q Station earlier in the year. They wanted to put on a worthwhile event for a group of individuals who had ‘been around for years and done all sorts of different team building'. They had some very specific outcomes they wanted to achieve based on their current strengths and weaknesses, but above all else they wanted to work together, as a team, as this was a factor that they believed had been lacking recently. The event was to be used as a lead in to their dinner which would be held at the unique Q Station at Manly following the activity.
The afternoon itself proved to exceed expectations, mostly due to the close correspondence BeChallenged had with LJM Group leading up to the event to ensure outcomes were reached. Following a rocky beginning, with participants a little sceptical at first, the group then completed activities facilitated by Kingsley & Terry under the Sydney Harbour Bridge, on water taxis across to Shark Island and in and around Q Station, the site of a new conference and hotel facility at Manly's old Quarantine Station.
Before long the group was right into it with teams being asked to gauge the risk involved before attempting each activity and wager on how successful they think they will be. Each activity attempted to focus on different aspects of communication, leadership and above all teamwork to ensure that the afternoon was not just a fun time out of the office, but also served some purpose following the event.
The day proved a resounding success, surprising even myself. While there had been plenty of communication between BeChallenged and LJM Group prior to the event, there were some very specific objectives that needed to be met and we seemed to hit them all. This group also had a different dynamic with participants generally being slightly more experienced in everything the business world has to offer, especially assorted team building events. At the conclusion of the event it was a big moment for one of the original sceptics to get up, voluntarily, in front of the group and deem the entire day a real success, believing it to be exactly what they needed to bring them all back pulling in the same direction.
