Everyone has an opinion about wine however very few people have a true understanding of what goes into making great wine or a palate educated enough to understand the subtle nuances between styles. A few hours spent tasting and learning from a professional will revolutionise your approach to the nectar of the gods and will provide your group with both an educational and thoroughly enjoyable event.

The Challenge:

Grape Expectations is run by Alex Retief, our very own wine expert, who will take your group on a journey of discovery as he strives to share his passion for wine with you. Alex has a wealth of knowledge gained from many years working as a winemaker both within Australia and abroad. This experience combined with his affable nature create an environment in which everyone, no matter what level of wine knowledge, will benefit from the event.

The program will first briefly explain how wine is made, and then progresses into tasting a number of wines, with Alex explaining the differences between styles and different wines of the same style. Information will also be provided as to what to look for when choosing wines and how to tell when a wine is off.

At various points through the event blind tastings will be conducted so that participants have a chance to test their newly acquired knowledge. Grape expectations is an enjoyable program that gives participants an opportunity to participate in a group event that is informative and social.

The event tends to break down some inhibitions whilst still being structured to provide a positive team building experience. The program combines particularly well with a meal and Alex will happily recommend wines to accompany a meal and tailor the program into your next dinner or lunch event.
