The challenge
Crossing the Spit is a unique opportunity for your team to connect with two young adventurers who completed one of the last firsts and against all odds paddled from the East Coast of Australia to New Plymouth on the New Zealand coastline. By the time the adventurers had finished they had paddled some 3318km over 62 days, 1221km more than expected, experiencing sharks, fatigue, bad weather and the unnerving feeling of going backwards.
Teams will use their kayaks and GPS systems to guide them around Middle Harbour completing a number of simulated scenarios along the way in their efforts to be the first team to complete their goal.
Finally teams will move back to Middle Harbour Yacht Club where James and Justin will share a twenty minute video presentation with the group, ensuring the day has a lasting effect on all those involved.
