Civilisation

All of the great civilisations had to start somewhere. Does your team have what it takes to begin your own miniature empire? In order to survive and start your new civilisation overseas you will need to decide what materials you will need, compete for resources, engineer your new building and plan your human resources. The development of your civilisation hangs in the balance; can your team make it happen?

The Challenge:

The Civilisation challenge is a great way to let teams show off their creative flair while working toward a common goal. In the Civilisation programme teams will be given the task of building the most impressive structure they can muster as a shelter for their new civilisation, however it’s not as simple as pitching a tent. Teams will first be required to compete for the limited resources on offer with which to build their new abode. Once this has been established the teams will need to plan the best order in which to move both themselves and their equipment via canoe to their new civilisation. It is then up to the teams to put together their new building, making it as creative and interesting as possible.

Whilst this task may sound reasonably easy the true test of the team is in the planning of their time, material and human resources. It will take strong leadership and even better communication and negotiation skills if there is to be success. What starts out to be a simple task becomes a fantastic test of teamwork in which creativity is the winner when the teams are finally asked to present their creations to their colleagues. This is an enjoyable day in which everyone has a chance to showcase their talents in a creative environment. It is also a very revealing day as it tests communication and negotiation skills in a challenging manner.
