Review: I have to be honest I didn't technically read this one, however I did listen to the audio book narrated by John McGrath himself. I was at first a little sceptical since I had heard a lot about the book from others before I read listened to it. What unfolded was an interesting insight into how a man took actions to ensure he succeeded. Every part of his life was based around ensuring he achieved his goals and nothing was going to stop him.
A common theme for the book is his routine, whether it be reversing into his driveway at night to ensure a fresh start in the morning or following a strict Monday schedule that doesn't allow phone calls before a certain time. He credits this constant routine to allowing him to be ‘unpredictable', in that by following his timeline it will allow him time each day to do something different, such as a visit to the beach or a round of golf.
While I enjoyed the book I felt what I got most out of it was how I don't want to have my life pan out. I feel some of what John McGrath mentioned is very applicable, especially in organising your life and those around you to ensure your time is best spent. What I didn't like was the way nothing else seemed to matter, while it is not heavily touched upon heavily in the book, extracurricular activities and close relationships seem to suffer from this overwhelming desire to succeed. I would recommend this book highly as it is an interesting read and well worth the time.
